What is the difference between a Prawn and a Crevette
Crevettes are giant cooked prawns in their shells.
As you can tell from the name, they’re a French speciality (although the prawns themselves come from warmer climates).

Crevette a la Marseille
Ingredients
- 1 portion of fettuccine
- 1/4 cup of minced red onion
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 4 large shrimp, shell-on
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1/3 cup of white wine
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 2 sprigs of thyme
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 2 tablespoons of sour cream
- chopped parsley, for garnish
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt, to season
- black pepper, to season

- Cook the pasta in salted water.
- Sweat out your onions and garlic in a pan with oil.
Spicy Crevette Noodles
These delicious noodles flavoured with Chinese five spice and soy sauce are ready in just 30 minutes – perfect for a midweek family meal.
Shredded cooked chicken makes a tasty alternative to king prawns.
Ingredients
- 300g Egg noodles, thin
- 2 tbsp Sunflower oil
- 2 Carrots, cut into thin strips
- 150g Sugar snap peas
- 200g Bean sprouts
- 1 bunch Salad onions, trimmed and sliced
- 300g Crevettes, peeled
- 1 tsp Chinese five spice
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
Instructions
- Place the noodles in a bowl and cover with boiling water.
- Leave 10 minutes then drain well.
- Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan or wok and fry the carrots and sugar snap peas for 3 minutes.
- Add the bean sprouts, onions and prawns, sprinkle over the Chinese five spice, toss well and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the drained noodles, stir-fry for a further 2-3 minutes until piping hot, drizzle with soy sauce and divide between 4 serving bowls.
Crevettes are a farmed cooked shellfish sourced from the Far East. To prepare, defrost in the fridge (ideally slowly overnight) and consume as soon as possible.
